Hello! As you can see from my website, I am passionate about helping survivors of sexual abuse heal. It can be done, even though it is a tremendous amount of painful work. Believe me, though, it is totally worth it. And, you are worth it.
I am also passionate about helping people in positions of religious authority help members of their congregation heal. I am not an expert in every religion, but am open to learning and promoting healing.
This is something I can’t do completely on my own and I welcome thoughts and input. We will not have the same theology or religious beliefs, but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn from and work with each other.
To start this journey, I have two quotes. The first, I found recently quoted in a book about Polly Bemis, a young Chinese woman who was part of the sex slave trade during the U.S. Gold Rush. The second is from the Bible.
The first quote – “I will not say that this story is true: because, as you will soon see, it is all truth and no story. It has no explanation and no conclusion; it is, like most of the other things we encounter in life, a fragment of something else which would be intensely exciting if it were not too large to be seen.” G.K. Chesterton, The Secret of a Train
And the second – 1 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV) 12″For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”
I have seen through the glass darkly and this blog will represent my truth I have gathered from the darkness.
